Almost Stranded in Mallaig!

Scotrail train strike on Saturday left me stranded in Mallaig with my car parked in Arisaig.
Its Monday morning and I'm going to run a garden photography workshop at Stillingfleet Nurseries soon, but its a minor miracle I'm here. My trip to Eigg last week almost ended with me stranded in Mallaig for a couple of days. When the ferry dropped me off in Mallaig on Saturday afternoon the last bus to Arisaig had already left, the trains we not running due to strike action and I tried in vain to find a taxi which proved impossible. The weather was dreadful, rain was lashing down and I could hardly carry my bags as they were so full of photo kit. So for a couple of hours I thought I was stranded until Monday. Eventually I ended up in the waiting room of the rail station with several other worried travellers. Then thank goodness a small mini bus turned up to run people to Fort William and I was dropped off in Arisaig where my car was parked, phew what a relief. 7 1/2 hours later I landed home very tired but relieved. I didn't mention to the taxi driver that I had no train ticked!
